Anniversary of my bro in law passing

A blink of an eye and its already a year. We doing prayers for him . This brings back sad memories of him struggling in his fight against nose cancer. His passing is especially significant to me because I was with him all the way. From the hoapital treatment , chemo for the cancer and the time he was in ICU . To see a healthy man reduce to skin and bones in a matter months really change my perspective of life. I know he is jn a better place now.  No more pain Kelvin, no more suffering.

Remembering

Been thinking about dad these few days, missing him as always. The thought of him is always followed by a stream of tears I couldn't control. Life is not the same now without you dad. But I know you are in a better place now. .

Daily gratitude

Has been a mixed bags of emotion coming back from melbourne. One hand you want a better life for the family, the other .. couldnt bear to leave them . But its not a hard decision really , sacrificing now for a better future is a no brainer.

At the bank now , UOB civic centre is undergoing a renovation so its a make shift bank outside the building.  A long queue for the GST voucher at the bank too.

Im glad I finally went to melbourne to experience the life there. Hopefully I do the family proud .

Today dad is looking better, with the painkiller dosage increase, pain is felt less.

Im grateful dad is feeling less pain, i hope he gets better everyday.

 

3 cost effective ways to getting a real estate listing.

Getting a property listing is very real estate professional daily aim. Because listing leads to sales and sales lead to commission. But how do you get a listing without throwing money at expensive flyer design and distribution or newspaper advertistment? Here is 3 way to do it, based on my experiences.

1) Cold calling
Cold calling home owner or business owner can sometimes lead to many opportunity.
It also puts you in the driver seat, you can call in the day for business owners and call at night for home owners, cold calling is fast and straight forward. With the right pitch and sales talk, you can arrange for an appointment for a face to face presentation . Cold calling can be in the comfort of your own home or in the office and you only work your fingers !


2) Door to Door visit.
Some home owner prefer to deal with people who they can see. Its often harder to reject an outright face to face conversation when you approach with a big smile and a cheerful attitude. You are more likely to be recognise if you make multiple visit to the same apartment block or the same neighbourhood, there by creating a sense of familiarity. With familiarity, people feel they know you and are more willing to open up to you. This method needs alot of foot work, but will eventually pay big dividend in the long run.


3) Social Service
Volunteering your time to give advice to home owner and help them deal with property related matters is a good cause, also a passive way of building a name for yourself.  With the right research and know how, you can offer your services free of charge to the community . You can learn valuable lesson on property related matter and anchor you as the person they go to for property related matters.
With the right attitude and service, you will be famous in no time !

Daily Gratitude

Life is like a road trip, it's not the destination, but the journey that counts.
I really hope that Dad's journey has been a good one. I never really get down to talking to him about it, i have to, i want to know his past, which he has never told me at all.

From what mom told me, he has a hard life, after been adopted, he had to work to support he family at a very young age. He will often take his younger brother and sister to work so he can keep an eye on them.  He was very poor back then, working in a logging factory, renting a small little room with mom. And both of them work really hard to survive and then later on, trying to raise all 3 of us.

Despite people looking down on our parents, they made it through with sheer grit and hardwork, sometimes putting in as much as 14 hours of work a day to put all of us through school and paying for the house and our food and almost everything.

Im grateful to have parents who wanted to see us grow into useful people, they were not strict, but always reminded us to be good, to do good and to be grateful and contented.

Thank you mom and dad.

Busy today, had to take Dad to see his favorite GP. The pain in the bone is unbearable for him, only thing i can do for him is take him to the GP for painkiller jab...and get more pain killers. Dr Tong say he doesn't want dad to turn into a medicine dump. But, right now, he needs that relief.

Made some fish soup for the kids today, real happy that i gut the fish , fillet it myself today, not bad for a first timer, hehehe.  Too bad i'm juicing today, so no dinner.  But i did have my boy brought us a nice cake for desert, dark chocolate cake....so guilty !

Oh well, we indulge once in a while...and the family is happy, so i'm happy !

Been missing a few blog for the pass few days, too engross in watch the NBA highlight to remember. Been catching Jeremy Lin and the Houston Rocket Highlight and their progress. I wish Jeremy Lin pick up on his scoring , he has the ability to go at least 25 points per game easy. But i understand , as a team player, you have to let others contribute, but you dont become a star by being a assist leader.

Anyway, i'm picking up on capitalism lab again, it's a nice game, the economy model is very good and it offer a good challenge, so glad im able to buy this game online and play it right away. That's one thing good about living in a country that gives me instant internet access and electricity anytime i want it. 

Going to start composting tomorrow, brought a nice bucket, going to get the browns all filled up then fill in the pulp from my juicing, hopefully it'll work !

Also, staying stable at 109.5kg this weekend, freaking happy ! finally breaking 109, 30Kg more to go ! go me !

The juicer is working better today, now that i learn to cut all the greens to smaller pieces. Takes a longer time but it's all worth it !

Made dinner for the boys, not sure if they love the fried kway teow healthy version, but i love it !
too bad i can only taste , i'm on dinner juice fast .

Breaking 109kg now, feeling damn happy. Feel so unobstructed ! can wear my socks easily without feeling my big fat belly blocking ! Oh well, more juicing to do...yeah !

They say the key to success is to set a goal and focus .  That is somewhat true, but i talk to a friend today , and he explain to me that beside goal and focus, there is this element of luck. He say things have turn out well for him not because he aggressively go out and push the product, he just market them like he alway does....but some how or rather, whenever he needs to clear out big object to bring cash, he always get it done !  He said it's so strange sometimes, people just come and buy the product that he needs to clear most .  And this has happen many times for him.  Strange huh?

Well, i believe a little luck is always good, but dont count on it !  Work hard !

I see dad walking properly today, it's a big improvement, he looks better now.
I'm glad i got him the painkiller today, he seems dependent on it. But to ease his pain, i will do anything .

After 7 years working in the same company, the guys are finally talking about a discussion on pay rise. I've never ask a boss for a pay rise before, but i hope this doesn't turn out to be a war of words. I know discussion about money usually ends ugly, i hope to avoid that .

Im happy fellow colleague included me in the discussion, they treat me as a team member now =o)
To gain their respect and trust is already an achievement , most of them have been around for more then 12 years !

Well, hopefully things turn out good ! wish me luck !

Today is another productive day, managed to squeeze in all the job and finish by 5pm. Glad to be learning new things today.  Got my favorite peanut and ikan bilis today ! i got all warm and fuzzy inside just looking at it. hehe.

i some time wonder how much distance i drive in a day.... all around the island and then back home and then to serangoon again and then back home. It's hard not to get tired =o)

Of late , things are have really been messy, people get upset, frustrated and sad just because of the lack of communication.  Everyone meant well, but all have different approach. I didnt quite like how things turn out, but i'm grateful i learnt a lesson . The lesson to get your point across directly, quit beating around the bushes . That way, they know your intention, good or bad...and the direction you are heading, that will reduce miscommunication and really clear up the air.   Every mistake is a lesson learnt.  happy to learn something useful today  ! =o)

This is mean for yesterday , was a bit late on this posting. Anyway, i'm happy to be back to juicing and helping customer solve their issue again. Feeling a bit of pressure from the real estate side of my work, but i see it as good pressure, that will keep me on my feet. Been thinking about a food business, but not sure what...but im still looking for that pot of gold =o)

Am grateful today that i'm able to afford to spend some money for my wife's birthday, still pondering what to give her, didn't buy any present, but buy her a big dinner.  Also grateful that i have a job that gives me the flexibility to let me visit my dad often. I thank my boss Mr Lim =o)

Today is a hot day ! So glad i have fan installed in my room and the living room too ! these are simple things we always take for granted.  And i can switch on the air-conditioning if things get out of hand ...isn't that great ?  Simple pleasure but huge improvemnt for our lives. For that i'm grateful.

Had the chance to wake up late today ! totally enjoyed it.  Spend some time with Alistair alone today, he had a ball of a time at granny's place today, so happy to see him enjoying himself.

Happy to be catching up with friends today, listening to him is good therapy, i hope lending him my listening ear have help him lighten his mental load.

we had some nice beef noodle, then sat at the hawker centre and listen to the old folks talk about their interesting life while we sip coffee and drank sugar cane juice. Was an interesting day , so glad to be living  ! =o)

Things that made me happy today :

Am happy to resolve some issue with a customer's new setup. Although i did spend a good 6 hours there, but things got sorted out eventually....i'm glad i didnt give up.

Spent some time with the little ones, brought them over to mom's , glad i could spare some times everyday for the family. It makes living all worth while =o)

Happy to get some free lunch today !  Had a customer doing a office warming party and i was just there at the right time ! woot !

Manage to get Beet root at the wet market in the evening, thought it was all sold out, lucky me !
Going the right way with that juicing, Apple , Beet root and Carrot ..just like Joan said, ABC drink .

Am grateful that i brought a car when i could afford it.  Saves me alot of time and i can take family anywhere they want. Really happy to have a car =o)

Wife made some nice ginseng chicken soup today,... she made some for my parents too. Looking on the bright side and really getting into the gratitude blog. I like the idea of making this a habit rather then concentrate on things that are sad and angry, think about all the good things that had happened. Would be a much better place to live.

Working on a saturaday is relaxing and today i throughly enjoy the work, although we spend most of the time cracking jokes and chatting since we need to wait for the contractor to finish laying the cables.
