windows server 2008

Just installed it with my colleague and it was quite interesting.
Have some new feature like the "Companyweb". A notice board of sorts for the internal staff, can prove to be very popular.
the graphical interface is also very nice. And with 4GB of RAMs, it is very responsive, feels very agile.

but as you know, things always works well when it's not congested. So i don't know if it's going to stay as agile when the folks loads in tons of stuff in it.

i wonder if the NT backup still work well.

i never thought i'll say this, but finally, the peeps at microsoft is getting it right. heh

The Legend

it's hard to belive , but the "king of pop" Michael Jackson has died. @ the age of 50, there is still so much he could have done. Being so famous, he didn't have a chance to lead a peaceful life.
And with so many ppl trying to get a piece of his fortune, he is constantly on his toes. Cannot imagine the life he lead....

I still remember his dangerous world tour in singapore. The only person to held a concert in the national stadium. The legend will forever be missed. Walk on Michael, walk on....

what a waste !

The other day i was reinstalling a Acer Aspire 5550 for a client not using the default factory install because i didn't want to install the acer e-power management or their other software because i think it clogs up the system.

So i use mine win xp cd to reinstall, everything went fine with installation, drivers update and all, but when it comes to windows activation, microsoft tell me the product ID i provided which was on a sticker underneath the laptop was invalid ! i was stump .... microsoft advise me to call the vendor where the laptop was brought.

So i called Acer, and they told me if i want to use the product ID that comes with the laptop, i had to do the factory install, but i already removed the partition of the factory install, so she said i can bring the laptop to the service centre and pay 50 bucks to get it reinstall to factory default.

So the win xp that you brought with the acer laptop is effectively useless when you stop using the laptop .....that means u need to spend more money buying another windows XP OS if you buy another system....means u can't transfer the software to someone else, u can't sell it to re-coup some cash, you can't use it anymore.... that's is such a waste !! so ask your vendor before you buy your next laptop.

Capitalism 3

I love capitalism, the game. It's a wonderful game that let you build your own factory, choose your own mining cave or your own retail outlet. They came out with Capitalism 2, but that was 2 years ago, i think it's time people @ enlight software comes out with a " Capitalism 3". I mean, why let a good game die, look @ ppl at blizzard, they made warcraft 3 and it's a huge success when you do it right.

Making a sequel is alway easier to make something from scratch, but making a good game better is equally challenging. I'm gonna learn to do programming if its what it takes for Capitalism 3 to come out......heh, if only i got the time and talent....

Anyway, i miss Tropico's in game music, think i'm gonna go buy the CD if i can find it....

recovering lost XP product Key

I'm sure many of you who use XP as an operating system have at some point for whatever reason need to reinstalling the OS.

Chances are some of you might have already lost the product key, fret not, this link will teach you how to extract you CD key from the file ntuser.dat. This seems like a more secure way of making sure you keep your CD key to yourself.

Those step might be a little confusing for you folks that have little idea about registry editing.

let me know if you need help.

Management console

I took over a maintaince contract from some vendor and realize that the management console exe is missing from the SBS 2003, i've tried many solution, including restalling using the ms server 2003 CD or repairing but never managed to get it back.

could someone provide me a solution? it's really getting on my nerve.....
There are still some issue on exchange server and outlook client 2003 that seems a bit strange but then again, not everyone is having the same problem as i do....
